Workplace Safety Takes Center Stage at the Ohio Safety Congress & Expo 2012
BWC, Miss Ohio to recognize Ohio employers for outstanding safety innovations
COLUMBUS - Ohio Safety Congress & Expo 2012 (OSC12), the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation (BWC) annual
three-day health and workers' compensation conference begins today and runs through Thursday at the Greater
Columbus Convention Center.
New this year is the first annual Safety Innovations Award competition recognizing Ohio employers that have
developed innovative ergonomic or safety solutions in their workplaces. Ellen Bryan, Miss Ohio 2011, will
join BWC Administrator/CEO Steve Buehrer to present awards and discuss her role as national spokesperson
for lightning safety after her sister Christina was injured on the job after being struck by lightning.

OSC12 is the state's largest and longest-running occupational safety, health and workers' compensation
conference. Attendees can earn continuing education units by attending more than 180 sessions ranging in
topics from industry specific safety classes, to creating a wellness program and how to handle an active shooter
in the workplace. The Expo Marketplace features exhibitors offering safety services, industrial supplies,
and safety equipment and gear.
