COLUMBUS – Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) Administrator Marsha Ryan has selected Raymond R. Mazzotta as chief operating officer (COO) for the agency. Mazzotta possesses more than 30 years experience in the insurance industry, serving in senior leadership positions for the past 25 years.

“I’m thrilled that Ray has joined BWC as its chief operating officer,” said Marsha. “Ray’s many professional accomplishments prove he has an impeccable understanding of the insurance industry and a proven track record in the development of strong internal leadership. BWC clients will also benefit from Ray’s expertise and his outstanding commitment to ensure a positive experience for each of our customers and stakeholders.”

Mazzotta most recently served as president and CEO of OHIC Insurance Company, located in Columbus. There he successfully crafted the direction of the operation, resulting in a record surplus and continually increasing net income.

At BWC, he will oversee the agency’s Fiscal and Planning Division, Customer Services Division, Medical Services Division and the Infrastructure and Technology Division. Mazzotta began his duties as COO on February 4.

Additionally, Gregg Paul joined BWC as its Chief of Legislative Affairs on January 22. He is an attorney with more than a decade of experience at the Statehouse, working in both the House and the Senate.

“Gregg has a thorough understanding of the Statehouse culture and is truly an asset to the BWC team,” added Ryan. “I’m confident his passion for the legislative process and commitment to our customers will result in outstanding communication between BWC and our legislative leaders.”
