Chief Information Officer Leonard Genders

Leo Genders was BWC’s director of Information Technology (IT) applications for almost a decade before accepting the role of CIO in May 2005. As applications director, he has played a crucial role in the dramatic improvements in efficiency and service delivery BWC has made since 1995.

Notably, Genders championed the development of the IT Project Office, including the implementation of project portfolio management, upgrades to project management software and the development of an internal system for prioritizing all IT projects from legacy enhancements to major system releases.

Genders is a graduate of Miami University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in systems analysis, and a 20-year veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard, where he served in various engineer officer capacities including company command. He joined BWC in 1988 as a programmer analyst and has held progressive management and leadership positions.
