Dennis Vanek leads the only BWC division that operates independently of management to ensure transparency and accountability within the agency. He and his team test internal controls, assess business processes and then recommend solutions for better operations. He reports directly to Administrator/CEO Steve Buehrer and also reports monthly to the BWC Board of Directors.

Before joining BWC in August 2011, Dennis was director of global audit services for the travel site Expedia in Bellevue, Wash. Before that, he was vice president of internal audit at The Sports Authority in Englewood, Colo.

Dennis graduated from Ohio University in 1991 with double majors in business law and accounting. He began his career in Columbus at Price Waterhouse, where he worked for almost 10 years. Following that, he was a senior manager at Deloitte & Touche — another accounting, auditing and consulting firm.

He lives in Upper Arlington with his wife and three children.
