Chief Actuarial Officer Christopher Carlson
|
|
Christopher Carlson joined BWC's senior team as Chief Actuarial Officer in January 2012. He's responsible for
directing the activities of BWC's actuarial division, setting employer premium rates to cover the cost of care
for Ohioans injured on the job.
Chris has worked for more than 30 years in the actuarial field beginning with Nationwide Insurance.
He comes to BWC after working for Pinnacle Actuarial, a small consulting firm headquartered in Illinois.
The firm, with Chris as the lead consultant, was hired by insurance companies, insurance departments and
state-run funds, including the Ohio Coal Mine Reclamation Fund and the Ohio Petroleum Underground Storage
Tank Fund.
Chris also is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) and a member of the American Academy of
Actuaries (MAAA). He is a past president of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), former chair of the CAS
Board of Directors, and served CAS in several other capacities. He has been a member of the Casualty
Committee of the Actuarial Standards Board and served on the Board of Directors of the American Academy of
Actuaries (AAA).
Chris earned a bachelor's in mathematics from the University of Oregon.
