Already planning OSC13
The 2012 Ohio Safety Congress & Expo kicked off Tuesday March 27th with more people pre-registered than ever before.
The hustle and bustle in the hallways was a sure sign we were on our way to having the most attended congress yet — in
round numbers, more than 5,100 participants.
With 13 half- and full-day classes on Day 1, many got an early start earning continuing education units. Then in the
afternoon, more than 200 vendors converged on our exhibit hall to prepare for the opening of the Expo Marketplace on
Wednesday. The pivotal point of the expo floor — the BWC booth — featured a new look and message, Well at Home, Safe at work.
Day 2 opened at 7 a.m. with the masses registering. Classes and the Expo Marketplace opened at 8 a.m. Many played
our fun Passport to Safety game that brought visitors to select booths, including our Safety Innovations competition area.
The competition ended with all participants getting an award from Miss Ohio 2011, Ellen Bryan.
Administrator/CEO Steve Buehrer opened the general session and announced the winners of the Safety Innovation Awards. Plus,
this year the Board of Directors held their monthly meeting at congress, giving the public an opportunity to attend and
provide comments.
OSC12 has grown to be a significant resource of professional development and recertification. We heard from speaker Eric
Giguire on Day 3 about how important safety training is, and how it just might save your life or keep you from having to tell
someone’s family a loved one has been critically injured.
OSC12 is something we can all be proud of — from the app to live tweeting, new booth, new marketing opportunities,
professional speaker presentations, networking opportunities and overall help to employers. If you attended, we would
love to hear your feedback. Email your comments.
Don’t forget to print off your certificates of attendance.
Plus, we’re keeping handouts for all the sessions on our website for the next 60 days. So, you can get them for classes you took or even ones you missed.
