Mission and vision
Our mission is to provide assistance to Ohio public employers/employees in
creating safe and healthful work environments.
Our vision is to be the best choice for quality safety and health assistance.
House Bill 308 incorporated by reference all of the Federal Occupational
Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards found in the Code of
Federal Regulations 29 CFR parts 1910, 1926 and 1928 as Ohio Employment Risk
Reduction Standards. These standards apply safety and health coverage to
approximately 600,000 public employees across the state. However, House Bill 308
exempted peace officers, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs and correctional officers
in county and municipal correctional institutions from coverage.
Ohio public employees can file complaints against their employers for alleged work
place safety violations. Employees can refuse to work under conditions of imminent
danger after complying with specific work rules.
