Credits offered for courses
|
Students attending most training center classes are awarded continuing
education units (CEUs) and other certification credits, which are printed on
completion certificates. A 90-percent class attendance is required to qualify
for continuing education units. The credits awarded for each class are published
in the course descriptions.

CEU
|
The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensations, Division of Safety and Hygiene - Training Center,
has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education
and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102. In obtaining this approval,
the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensations, Division of Safety and Hygiene - Training Center, has
demonstrated that it complies with the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard which is widely recognized as the
Standard of good practice internationally. As a result of their Authorized Provider membership status,
the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensations, Division of Safety and Hygiene - Training Center, is authorized
to offer IACET CEUs for its programs that qualify under the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard.

|
Certification Maintenance (CM) credits are awarded by the American Board
of Industrial Hygiene.

BENHA
|
State of Ohio Board of Examiners of Nursing Home Administrators (BENHA)
awards continuing education credits for two courses: Safety and Ergonomics for Extended
Care Facilities and Personal Defense Strategies for Long-term Care Workers.
Note: Any classes that are added due to excessive wait lists will
not offer BENHA credits.

EPA
|
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) offers credit to drinking
water and wastewater plant operators.

Nursing credits
|
The Ohio Board of Nursing offers credit for one course: Asthma! Is Your
Company at Risk?
|
Credit for Step 6 of the 10-Step Business Plan for Safety
|
BWC offers several discount programs that offer financial incentives
to employers who implement safe work practices and efficient claims
management procedures in their organizations as outlined in the
10-Step Business Plan for Safety.
If your company participates in the One Claim Program, Drug-Free Workplace
Program (DFWP), Drug-Free EZ (DF-EZ) or an individual-retrospective rating plan,
you may be required to meet the educational requirements outlined in Step 6 of
the 10-Step Business Plan for Safety.
Each course offers one credit for each hour of instructor-student contact in the
classroom. The company safety coordinator must earn a total of six credits to
satisfy the Step 6 requirement. Web-based courses are exempt from Step 6
credit.
