Continuing education and proof of attendance
The following is criteria for successful completion of educational sessions for continuing education and proof
of attendance. To receive attendance credit of any type, you must:
- Arrive at the session on time. Doors will close ten minutes after the session begins. Late arrivals will
not be admitted. BWC will grant no exceptions.
- Remain in the session for its entirety.
- Scan your badge as you exit the session room. This is the only method to identify the sessions you attend.
General sessions and large educational sessions may scan your badge upon entry.
- Visit this Web site after the event to complete a session survey and print a certificate of attendance
for up to 60 days after the event.
- Retain your certificate of attendance for submission to your professional organization or BWC
program representative.
The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (1004768) has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association
for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), 1760 Old Meadow Road, Suite 500, McLean, VA 22102. For
tracking purposes, 60 minutes of educational content is awarded 0.1 general CEUs. All educational sessions have
been approved to receive IACET credit.
Documentation on select sessions has been submitted to the appropriate groups and organizations for continuing
education for the following professions:

Attendance at the safety congress could qualify for Board of Certified Safety Professionals

The American Board of Industrial Hygiene has approved .5 safety certification maintenance
(CM) points per half day of attendance, for a maximum of 3 safety CMs for the event. To

BWC’s One-Claim program
Participants must earn a total of six credits to meet the requirements for One Claim Program
(OCP) Step 6 credit. You can apply credits earned to policy year 2009 or policy year 2010 but
not both years. You may use credits in combination with those earned at other BWC-sponsored
events such as BWC’s Division of Safety & Hygiene training courses.
By attending all sessions offered on a single day or a full-day session of the safety congress, OCP participants may
earn up to six credits equivalent to full Step 6 credit. To receive credit, you must be present for
the duration of the session. BWC will grant no exceptions. Follow the proof of attendance process
above to ensure proper verification of your participation.
100-Percent EM Cap program
Participants must earn a total of six credits to meet the requirements for 100-Percent EM Cap
program Step 6 credit. You can apply credits earned to policy year 2009 or policy year 2010 but not
both years. You may use credits in combination with those earned at other BWC-sponsored events such
as BWC’s Division of Safety & Hygiene training courses.
By attending all sessions offered on a single day or a full-day session of the safety congress, participants may

BWC’s Safety Council program
Safety council members may earn a maximum of one external training credit toward the Safety
Council Rebate program. Members may earn one credit, no matter the number of individuals in
attendance per policy number, or the number of educational sessions or days attended. By attending
a general session or at least one educational session, participants can earn a Safety Council
Rebate program external training credit.
To receive credit, you must be present for the duration of the session. BWC will grant no
exceptions. Follow the proof of attendance process to ensure proper verification of your participation.
Submit documentation to your local safety council by June 30, 2010.

Group-rating two-hour training
Employers who are group rated and have had a claim in the green year or the year prior are
required to attend two hours of workplace safety training. This training must be completed
within the current policy year. You may fulfill this requirement at various BWC-sponsored events
such as BWC’s Division of Safety & Hygiene training courses or Safety Congress.
By attending two hours of training at safety congress, participants may fulfill their training
requirement. To receive credit, you must be present for the duration of the session. BWC will grant
no exceptions. Follow the proof of attendance process above to ensure proper verification of your
participation.
Public-school credit
Teachers and school employees may earn credit for their attendance at Safety Congress. To receive
credit, you must be present for the duration of the session. BWC will grant no exceptions. Follow
the proof of attendance process above to ensure proper verification of your participation. Submit
documentation to your local professional development committee in a manner consistent with local
guidelines.
