Introduction
For more than a decade the Governor’s Excellence in Workers’ Compensation Award program
has recognized Ohio businesses and public employers who provide a safe, cost-effective workplace
for their employees, while supporting their injured workers. To highlight these organizations
and identify best practices, Governor Ted Strickland and BWC sponsor this prestigious award.
Award-winning qualities
Governor’s Excellence award winners share the following qualities:
- Demonstrate exemplary commitment to creating a safe workplace;
- Administer an outstanding cost-containment program;
- Exhibit active leadership by senior management;
- Encourage employee involvement;
- Achieve measurable results.
Award categories
The governor annually presents awards to outstanding businesses and public employers.
The awards are given in three categories, state-fund, self-insuring and public employers.
