Who Hears the Appeal?

The Industrial Commission of Ohio (IC) hears all claim disputes. The IC is a separate agency that works in conjunction with BWC. The IC is responsible for making decisions on any disputed claim.

Hearings are held at the customer service office that is closest to your residence. Hearings are part of the claims due process that is available to all parties of the claim. An IC hearing officer conducts hearings at an office near you.

If you have an attorney or authorized representative, you do not have to attend your hearing, however BWC recommends that you take an active role in the process of your claim and attend your hearing if possible.

The IC gives all parties to the claim adequate written notice as to the time and place of the hearing so they may attend and present evidence. Once the hearing takes place, all parties to the claim will receive written notice of the decision.

What if I don't live in Ohio?
