Medical Only Claim

If you suffer a minor injury that may or may not include time off work of seven days, or less, BWC considers your claim a medical-only claim.

The managed care organizations (MCOs) automatically send copies of medical evidence from the treating provider to BWC upon receipt. BWC uses this evidence to make an initial claim determination and to investigate the claim for potential subrogation.

Some minor injury, medical-only claims do not require medical evidence for the claims service specialists (CSS) to make a decision.
