Difference between a medical-only and a lost-time claim

There are two types of workers' compensation claims.

• Medical-only claims - A claim filed when an employee loses seven or fewer days from his or her job due to an industrial injury or occupational disease. Medical-only claims are handled by the medical-only claims department located in the William Green Building in Columbus, Ohio
• Lost-time claims - A claim filed when an employee loses eight or more days from his or her job due to an industrial injury or occupational disease. If you miss 14 consecutive days or more due to your allowed injury or illness, you may be compensated for the entire period of time you are disabled as a result of the allowed injury/occupational disease. The first 7 days of disability are not compensable unless you miss 14 consecutive days.
