Managed care organizations –
MCOs manage and reimburse the following services that may be obtained in a pharmacy:
compound medications; durable medical equipment; disposable medical supplies; and home
infusion therapy. Drugs supplied in a physician’s office will not be reimbursed as
outpatient medication. Submit bills for items such as crutches, walkers, gauze or tape
to the MCO on a HCFA 1500 or Service Invoice (C-19).
