Faxing documents to the managed care organizations (MCOs)

Providers should fax medical documents to the MCOs, not BWC. Please refer to the MCO contact information in Chapter 1 of the Provider Billing and Reimbursement Manual (BRM) or the MCO Directory for the current toll-free fax number for each MCO.

Send only one fax to the MCO, and do not send a duplicate to BWC. If you receive a request for documentation that you've already faxed to the MCO, ask the requester to check the medical repository first.

Please include a fax cover sheet for each injured worker. Also, include the injured worker’s name, Social Security number or claim number on each page of the fax. Timely submission of these medical documents provides MCOs and BWC with important information and minimizes the possibility of delayed authorizations.
