If a pharmacy accepts assignment, you do not have to pay for the prescription at the time it is dispensed. By accepting assignment the pharmacy agrees to wait for your claim to be allowed before getting paid for the prescription.

If your claim is not allowed, you are responsible to pay for the prescription.
