Workplace safety is a BWC priority. BWC’s
Division of Safety & Hygiene works to help employers prevent workplace injuries.
The impact of a work-related injury can be far-reaching. Everyone loses when
someone is injured on the job.

The injured worker suffers physically,
emotionally and financially.

Co-workers feel the impact, which can lower
employee morale.

The employer has lost the productivity of an
employee and is at risk of a premium increase.

Industry-similar employers’ workers’ compensation costs are affected by the
overall costs of the workers’ compensation system.
The Division of Safety & Hygiene offers a variety of programs and services to
prevent accidents and reduce workers' compensation costs. A portion of employer
premiums pays for these safety and health services which are available to
employers at no additional fee.
Programs and services offered by Safety & Hygiene include:
- On-site consultants;
- Training center;
- Library services;
- Ohio Safety Congress & Expo.
