OhioBWC - Basics: Occupational Disease (OD)
Occupational Disease (OD)
An OD is a disease process arising in the course of and out of employment, which usually occurs over a
period of time. From a workers’ compensation standpoint, one of the key criteria for determining if a
disease is occupational in nature is determining if the injured worker’s employment creates a greater
risk of contracting a disease than the public in general.
