OhioBWC - Basics: Industrial Accident
Industrial Accident
For a claim to be considered a workers’ compensation issue, an accident or exposure must occur in the
course of and be a direct results of an injured worker’s employment. While commonly used, the term
industrial accident can be misleading, because not all claims arise from industrial settings (i.e.,
factories, heavy industry, etc.). A more appropriate description is either work-related or workplace
accidents.
