Black Lung
Black lung claims are funded by the federal government; however, the Ohio workers’ compensation system is responsible for their determination and on-going management.

Customer Service Team
BWC Customer Service Teams (CSTs) are composed of Claims Service Specialists (CSSs), Medical Services Specialists (MSSs) and a Team Leader. CSTs are responsible for all claims management activities.

Marine Fund
BWC is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor to create and administer a workers’ compensation program under the federal Longshoreman and Harbor Workers Act. BWC’s program is called the Marine Industrial Fund.

State Fund
The State Fund of Ohio is statutorily mandated for the sole purpose of financing Ohio’s workers’ compensation system. All employees of public and private employers who contribute to the State Fund of Ohio are eligible for workers’ compensation benefits administered by the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
